Charles and Heidy Kux-Kardos took over the Alaska Cafe in 1972 with their $308 savings. Both fresh out of university, they saw a wonderful opportunity at this location to build the best eating establishment in the Peace River Country. With their European background of German and Austro- Hungarian roots, they combined the charm of a Paris Cafe with their own spirit of northern adventure. Charles' philosophy called Deluxe Evolutionary means, "always changing for the better" and is also the name of their famous Hamburger. The Alaska Cafe and Dining Room is a member of the World Famous Restaurants International, is approved by the American and Canadian Automobile Association and is mentioned in Where To Eat in Canada which lists the 500 best restaurants in this country.
